KODANSHA COMICS REBRAND

This project was to choose an existing brand and rebrand it. The requirements were to come up with a new or revised logo and a new branding system that would be compiled in a stylescape. The brand was Kodansha Comics, a manga publishing company subsidiary of Japan's largest publishing company, that was founded in 1909.

I went with a rebrand of their older branding that I had seen growing up. The color was changed to blue against a black circular background to contrast the red of their largest competitor and to make it stand out on a bookshelf. I also made a pattern of small triangles pointing down to match the logo and add texture to their assets.
